Czech President Petr Pavel said on May 23 that he was concerned about the uncertainty and unpredictability of US actions that were causing uncertainty in the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO).

"I am concerned about the uncertainty and unpredictability that we are currently witnessing even within NATO. Earlier, the allies informed us about any changes in the number of troops and their deployment," Pavel said during a discussion on the sidelines of the Globsec security conference in Prague, as quoted by the CTK news agency.

It is noted that this is how the president reacted to the decision of the American leader Donald Trump to send 5,000 troops to Poland, which was made by the White House without coordination with other states.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on May 20 that EU countries are expressing irritation over the uncertainty over the withdrawal of American troops from the continent and plan to demand clarification of the situation from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. According to the newspaper, Washington's current decisions on the withdrawal of some military personnel from Germany, as well as the suspension of sending military personnel to Poland, have provoked serious concern among European partners.
