Buccal and face massage can improve microcirculation, reduce puffiness and relieve muscle tension, but they cannot replace plastic surgery, botox or completely remove wrinkles. Yulia Adetona, a professional certified masseur and a member of the Massage Therapists Association, told Izvestia about this on May 26.

"Buccal and face massage can be considered as a working care tool, but not as a substitute for surgery, injections, or a universal rejuvenation method," she said.

According to the expert, the real effect of such techniques is related to the impact on the soft tissues, muscles and the frame of the face. Massage increases blood flow and helps to saturate tissues with oxygen, which can make the skin look fresher, firmer and more radiant.

Adetona noted that face massage helps to reduce muscle tension, especially in the area of the masticatory muscles, which are often in spasm due to stress or the habit of clenching teeth. The procedure also has a lymphatic drainage effect: it accelerates the outflow of lymph, reduces morning puffiness, and the cheekbones and oval face visually become clearer.

Buccal massage, in which a specialist works through the oral cavity, allows you to work out deep muscles and ligaments. Initially, such techniques were used in neurology and speech therapy to restore facial expressions after strokes and injuries.

"At the same time, the expert stressed that some of the promises around buccal and face massage relate more to marketing. For example, the procedure does not reduce the volume of the cheeks by burning adipose tissue and does not remove Bicha lumps. The effect of a thinner face occurs due to the reduction of puffiness and the removal of muscle spasm," said the specialist.

Adetona added that regular courses or sessions are needed to maintain results. Upon termination of the procedures, the face gradually returns to its original state. It is also important to choose a certified specialist who knows the anatomy of the face and knows the correct technique, since improper exposure can injure joints or lymph nodes.

On April 19, Maxim Popogrebsky, an orthopedic traumatologist and head of the Department of Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation Treatment at the NCSM of the FMBA of Russia, spoke about the causes of bruising after an injury. He cited vascular damage and blood outpouring into the soft tissues in the area of impact as the reason. According to the specialist, it is unlikely to be possible to determine the nature and scale of the injury from the bruise, but this can be said from the size and swelling at the site of the injury.
