The British police's investigation into ex-Prince Andrew will be long and complex. This was reported on May 22 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.

"The investigation is extremely thorough and will take some time. This is by no means going to be a quick investigation," said Oliver Wright, Deputy Chief Constable of the Thames Valley Police.

Wright added that police have received a "significant amount of information" from the public and other sources, and that the investigation will be "incredibly difficult." The agency recalls that the focus of the investigators is the role of the former prince as special representative for trade and investment between 2001 and 2011.

His emails, previously released by the British Ministry of Justice, indicate that Andrew shared confidential information with American financier Jeffrey Epstein. The police are also investigating possible sexual offenses by Andrew himself.

In February, British police detained Andrew in the financier's case and on suspicion of misconduct in a public office. It was later noted that the former prince could face a life sentence in the financier's case. Andrew could have passed confidential information to Epstein while serving as the UK's trade envoy. At the same time, this charge is considered one of the most serious crimes in British law.
