The meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region Alexei Russkikh, which was supposed to take place on May 21, was canceled for technical reasons. This was announced on May 22 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"Yesterday's meeting with the Russians was canceled for technical reasons," he said during his briefing.

Peskov said that the Russian leader and the head of the Ulyanovsk region will meet in one to two weeks. In addition, he added that the President of the Russian Federation has planned a number of other events, including the reception of the head of the Republic of Tyva Vladislav Khovalyg.

On the same day, Peskov announced that Putin would hold an international telephone conversation.
