The New Movement Festival announced the jury, the program and the participants of the Film Market

The third festival of young cinema "New Movement", which will be held from May 28 to June 1 in Veliky Novgorod, announced the composition of the jury and the participants of the competition program. This year, the festival will once again bring together debutants, independent authors and young professionals of Russian cinema.

In addition, the Film Market of the author's cinema will be held for the second time as part of the festival. This is a professional platform where young directors and producers will present their projects to distributors, online platforms, festival selectors, producers and potential industry partners.

This year's jury was chaired by producer Maxim Dobromyslov, the jury also included cinematographer Vsevolod Kaptur, director and screenwriter Ivan Sosnin, theater and film actor Rinal Mukhametov and actress Anastasia Krasovskaya.

"This year's competition program is a space where the author's depth, experiment and genre cinema exist not as contradictions, but as facets of a single statement. The films that we have selected are very different — in language, in intonation, in origin, in how they are arranged from the inside. But they all have one thing in common: behind each stands an artist who is not just looking for a form, but wants his meanings to be heard. We are convinced that truly live cinema is born precisely at this intersection — between creative freedom and the desire to find a response in the audience. This is exactly the kind of movie that awaits the audience of the New Movement this year," said Trifon Bebutov, program director of the festival.

In total, the competition program includes nine films, each of which presents a new author's perspective and a wide range of genres — from psychological drama and thriller to experimental cinema, romantic stories and road movies.

As part of the main competition program, the professional jury awards the following prizes: the main prize, the prize for the best director, the prize for the best actor, the prize for the best actress, the prize for the best visual solution.

The prize of the Governor of the Novgorod region in the amount of 1,000,000 rubles is awarded to the participant who received the main prize, based on the decision of the jury.

The organizing committee and the management of the festival also establish a prize for the best young producer in Russia. The award can be given to the producer regardless of the participation of his film in the competition program of the festival.

In addition to the main awards, participants in the competition program will be able to claim special prizes from the festival's partners. The Vereteno film distribution company will award one of the films with a prize, including the organization of premiere screenings and support for further distribution of the film. VKontakte also established a separate prize — the winner will receive support in promoting the film at the box office. In addition, a special prize for young film critics will be awarded at the festival.

Nine promising projects have been selected to participate in the Film Market this year, including films at various stages of production — from development to postproduction.

"The film market program is based on the kaleidoscope principle. This is an inflorescence of different paintings that are completely different from each other. One genre variety is worth it: romance, dramedy, mystery drama, paranoid thriller, teen horror, ethno-fantasy and other unexpected combinations. The background of their creators is even more different from each other: from debutants to authors who have a whole string of projects, participation in top film festivals and years of work in related industries. The cast includes long-familiar faces and artists who appear in front of the camera for the first time. If festival screening programs are usually a rigid concept in which paintings are combined, echoing and complementing each other, then the program of our Film Market is a presentation of projects that sharply contrast, highlighting, highlighting and emphasizing each other's features, once again reminding that our industry is not a national film school, which It works and develops in one direction, and the community of creators who create content for a huge diverse audience," said Hanna Mironenko, curator of the Auteur Cinema Market.

Project presentations will be held in a closed format. They will be attended by representatives of leading Russian distribution companies, online platforms, production companies, festivals and film studios.
