There have been 339 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.

Over the past day, 339 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 28 people were killed and 403 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on May 22 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 77 accidents involving pedestrians, one person was killed, and 77 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 26 children, eight of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings and 18 outside their area of operation. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 28 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 49 outside their area of operation.

25 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which 26 road users, including three minors, required medical assistance. The reason for 18 bus accidents were traffic violations committed by their drivers.

In addition, over the past day, 65 accidents involving minors were registered on the roads of Russia, as a result of which one child was killed and 66 young road users were injured, including 10 passengers and five motor transport drivers.

So, in the afternoon in Troitsk in Moscow, a 16-year-old pit bike driver who does not have a driver's license and travels without a motorcycle helmet, collided with a passenger car traveling in the same direction during a sudden lane change. As a result of the accident, the minor driver was killed.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminded parents of the need to exclude the possibility of minors accessing motor vehicles and sports equipment, including pit bikes. Driving such equipment without appropriate skills, protective equipment and knowledge of the rules of the road poses a serious danger to teenagers, the department stressed. Pitbikes are sports equipment and are not intended for use on public roads. Their operation is allowed only on specialized tracks and enclosed areas.
