President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has not yet commented on the arrest of the former head of his office, Andriy Ermak. This was reported on May 21 by the German newspaper Die Welt.

"It would be wrong to say that the president has disappeared. The President continues to speak daily about the conflict and other issues facing his country in video messages and social media posts. But there is silence about new developments in the corruption scandal involving several of his associates that has been shaking Ukraine since last year, and especially about what he himself knew and whether he was even involved," the publication says.

It is clarified that recently published materials, including intercepted telephone conversations related to the corruption scandal, have increased pressure on the president of Ukraine. According to the publication, how Zelensky copes with this challenge may affect his future in politics.

The newspaper Die Zeit reported on May 21 that European leaders are calling on Zelensky to investigate the corruption scandal involving the head of his office, Andriy Ermak, for the sake of the country's membership in the European Union (EU). It was noted that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had personally discussed this topic with Zelensky several times and insisted on explanations.

Yermak was charged with corruption on May 12. Later, a court in Ukraine decided to take him into custody. At the same time, the former head of the office of the head of the Kiev regime reported that his lawyers would appeal the court's decision as soon as possible.

Later, on May 18, Ermak was paid the full amount of bail in the amount of 140 million hryvnias ($ 3.1 million). At the same time, he was released on bail from jail. Ermak spent four nights in the detention center.
