Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk's statements about the country's decisive reaction to the Ukrainian conflict are an attempt to provoke and blackmail Russia. This opinion was expressed by political scientist and publicist Georgy Dibrov on Thursday, May 21.

According to him, such actions are aimed at including the European Union (EU) in negotiations on Ukraine.

The political scientist believes that positive geopolitical processes, including the trips of the presidents of the United States and Russia to China, indicate that the world is changing without the participation of European countries. Poland continues to play two sides: on the one hand, it is discussing defense projects with the United States, and on the other, it participates in the "Britain, Poland, Ukraine" triangle.

Dibrov recalled that information about this triangle was announced by President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in the Verkhovna Rada on February 1, 2022.

"The project is aimed at cooperation between the three countries in the defense sector to counter the so-called Russian threat. It is noteworthy that Russia did not threaten anyone at that time — the war began only 24 days later. This means that the UK and its allies were preparing in advance for large—scale support for Ukraine," Dibrov explained in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

He added that regional militaristic alliances within the EU are being created to attack peaceful regions and countries. In these circumstances, Tusk's statements are an attempt at bargaining, the political scientist believes.

Speaking about the prospects of a direct clash between NATO and Russia, the political scientist noted that in the next three years the alliance does not have the means to aggravate the situation on the Ukrainian front. NATO without the US budget will not change the course of events, so the EU is waiting for 2029-2030, counting on the departure of Republicans, Dibrov believes.

"A direct clash will cost the alliance very dearly. Manipulation is cheaper for NATO and still more effective. Poland continues to build a psycho-emotional fence, separating itself not from Russia, but from common sense. In the coming years, NATO leaders are ready only for verbal escalation and for a fight with their shadow," he concluded.
