Miroshnik pointed to the increasing risk of the use of nuclear weapons in the Ukrainian conflict

The line beyond which the use of nuclear weapons in the conflict in Ukraine is getting thinner. This was announced on May 21 by the Russian Foreign Ministry's Ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, Rodion Miroshnik.

"The line beyond which the use of all possible types of weapons is becoming thinner. And that's why it's a very dangerous game, even in the form of rhetoric..."the hope that in the event of serious pressure on Russia or a threat to Russia by such actions, nuclear weapons will not be used is not the right way to supply the issue," the diplomat was quoted as saying by TASS.

He added that the Europeans are inciting confrontation mainly in countries that are located near the Russian borders, suggesting that Russia will not want to launch nuclear strikes against them. However, when the leading European states — Paris, London, Berlin — themselves begin confrontational steps and hear about the possibility of a response from the Russian Federation, they immediately stop thinking like that.

Earlier in the day, Russia's permanent representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Dmitry Polyansky, speaking at the unification conference, said that the military activity of NATO countries near the border of the Russian Federation had reached the level of the Cold War. He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin had already stated that any attempts to blockade or invade the Kaliningrad region would lead to "unprecedented escalation." According to him, if the OSCE had its own "Doomsday Clock," it would have moved one step closer to midnight.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on May 19 that Russia was determined to militarily and technically fend off any threats posed to it. According to the diplomat, Moscow regularly warns Western opponents about the risks they pose. Ryabkov stressed that Russia expects to cool down the "hotheads" in the capitals of NATO countries in this way.
