Police officers have detained a man who drunkenly hit two people on the side of the road in a car in the Moscow region and left the scene of an accident. This was announced by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk on Thursday, May 21.
"My colleagues from the Moscow region police immediately detained the driver, who hit pedestrians and fled the scene. He is suspected of violating traffic rules (SDA), which negligently caused the death of a person," the Moscow city News agency quoted a representative of the department.
Volk said that the accident occurred on the evening of May 20 on 68 km of the Lotoshino–Suvorovo–Klin highway. The driver of the Lada Priora car, being intoxicated, lost control and ran over the citizens standing on the side of the road, after which he fled the scene. As a result of the incident, a 42-year-old man died, and his 19-year-old son was hospitalized with injuries.
Operatives of the criminal investigation Department and employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city district of Klin identified and detained the suspect, according to the website. kp.ru .
"An investigator of the territorial police unit has opened a criminal case against him on the grounds of a crime under Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the person involved is being resolved," Volk added.
