The Russian Mountaineering Federation appreciated the ascent of paraathlete Nabiev to Mount Everest

The Russian climber Rustam Nabiev, who lost his legs, set a great achievement by being the first to climb Mount Everest on one hand. This was announced on May 21 by Alexander Pyatnitsin, Vice-President of the Russian Mountaineering Federation.

"This is a very serious achievement. <...> He walked the entire route himself. Therefore, this is a very significant achievement," he said in an interview with TASS.

The agency also clarified that the paraathlete is 34 years old, he is a native of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Nabiyev lost both legs in 2015 when the barracks collapsed.

Earlier in the day, Rustam Nabiyev became the first person in history to climb Mount Everest on one hand. He dedicated the ascent to people with inclusions and urged them to "fight to the end."
