Experts talked about changes in the rules of hiring in Russia
In Russia, job search rules are changing due to staffing shortages and mass automation of hiring. Companies are increasingly using AI for the initial selection of candidates, so resumes should not only be understandable to the employer, but also correctly read by algorithms. Why even experienced specialists may not receive feedback and which skills become crucial is described in the Izvestia article.
The role of artificial intelligence
Veronika Vodokhlebova, a business coach and expert in leadership development, noted that the labor market has undergone major transformations in recent years. According to her, the resume has turned into a marketing tool that should primarily appeal to the algorithm, not the person. Artificial intelligence systems and ATS filters have become widely used for the primary analysis of candidate data.
Oksana Beberashvili, an expert on tax security, added that recruiting automation is a necessity today due to the overloaded feedback flow. Artificial intelligence helps screen out up to 80% of irrelevant applications. This allows recruiters to focus on a high-quality sample, since it is impossible to manually process hundreds and thousands of responses to a single vacancy.
"To simplify it, the process now looks like this: thousands of responses, followed by automatic cleaning, then a hundred more or less suitable ones, and manual selection from them," she noted.
Resume filling rules
Incorrect filling out of the applicant's profile becomes a common problem. Algorithms can screen out a qualified specialist if they did not specify their age, desired salary, or used complex official job descriptions instead of market ones. According to Vodokhlebova, it is more difficult for experienced professionals to adapt to the new rules, as they are accustomed to relying on their background.
Vodokhlebova stressed that job search today requires a systematic approach and daily market analysis. It is important to show specific results and cases in the resume, and not just list job responsibilities. If there is no response to the responses within two weeks, this indicates problems with paperwork or overestimated expectations of the candidate.
Structural hunger
Beberashvili pointed out a paradox: there are many resumes, but there are not enough specialists with the necessary competencies. The shift of human resources towards the military-industrial complex and logistics forces other companies to reduce costs by outsourcing functions or replacing routine operations with technology.
Forecasts for specialists
The main advantage of a candidate in today's market is the ability to learn quickly and take responsibility. Although AI increases productivity by 10-20%, it cannot replace human thinking in decision-making. Only the routine tasks of data entry and primary document processing are at risk of substitution.
"And those specialists who know how to learn quickly, adapt and learn new things win. If a candidate can show examples of how he mastered new directions, implemented changes, and adapted to new tasks, then this becomes a huge advantage," Vodokhlebova said.
