Sergei Kornilov, 21, who caused a massive road accident in Nizhny Novgorod, repeatedly got drunk behind the wheel. A source familiar with the situation told Izvestia on May 21.
"Kornilov had driven drunk before. After his father's death, he began to feel complete impunity, such incidents occurred more than once," the source explained.
The source clarified that some of the young man's friends stopped communicating with him because of immoral behavior.
The young man is the son of the CEO of the State Corporation (GC) Louisaur, who died in 2024. This organization is engaged in the creation of special equipment, metal products, as well as the sale and maintenance of machines.
Kornilov, driving a Mercedes, caused a massive accident at the Pokhvalinsky Congress in Nizhny Novgorod the day before. No one was injured in the incident. Four administrative materials were compiled for the defendant. After checking, it turned out that the young man had already been held accountable many times before this accident.
In a conversation with Izvestia on the same day, Kornilov stated that he was sober at the time of the accident and simply "hit the car." However, in his social networks, the young man claimed the opposite — shortly before the incident, he posted a video in which he admitted that he had drunk a lot, and after the accident he posed on the hood of a broken car.
