Sales of Chinese used cars in Russia increased by 45.5%
In the first four months of this year, 105.5 thousand Chinese brand cars were resold on the Russian secondary market. This is 45.5% more than in January-April last year, when 72.8 thousand used Chinese cars were registered. The market share of such cars has grown to 5.7%, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said in his Telegram channel on May 21.
According to the expert, the share of Chinese cars in the structure of resales of fresh cars (2022-2025 years of production) is almost 40%. At the same time, among older cars (from five years old), the share of Chinese brands was only 2% of the secondary market.
The most common Chinese brand cars in the secondary market were the Chery (20.8%), Geely (17.7%) and Haval (14.6%) models. The top ten also includes brands such as Lifan, Exeed, Great Wall, Omoda, Tank and Jetour.
In addition, it became known that the share of electric vehicles among Chinese brands reached 1.4%, and plug—in hybrids - 4.4%. At the same time, in the new car market, the share of electric cars in total sales of brand cars from China decreased to 0.7%, although the share of rechargeable hybrids increased to 10%.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that in April, Russians purchased 542.2 thousand used passenger cars, which is 14.1% more than in March 2026, and 6.4% higher than the result of April last year. The Lada 2107 sedan became the most popular model among used passenger cars in Russia in the middle of spring.
