SBU officers have stepped up checks at the border with Belarus

Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), together with the military, are conducting enhanced checks in the northern border areas due to the alleged threat of military operations from the territory of the Republic of Belarus (RB). This was reported on May 21 in the press service of the department.

"These measures are unprecedented in terms of the number of forces and means involved in the territories bordering Russia and Belarus and will be an effective deterrent to any aggressive actions or operations of the enemy and his ally," the Telegram channel said in a statement.

Thus, enhanced control measures were introduced in Chernihiv, Kiev, Zhytomyr, Volyn and Rivne regions. In this area, employees of the Ukrainian services are actively checking fellow citizens, cars and premises.

Additional measures were taken against the background of statements by the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, about the alleged impending offensive of Russian troops on Kiev from the territory of Belarus.

Military expert, captain of the 1st rank of the reserve Vladimir Gundarov, in an interview with Izvestia on May 15, said that Zelensky was starting talks about the alleged need to strengthen the border with Belarus in order to attract the attention of the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union (EU) to accelerate the transfer of credit to the Kiev regime.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, called Zelensky's words incitement on May 18. He confirmed that the Belarusian side is an ally of Russia, but remains a sovereign state.
