Cats were detained on the Russian-Latvian border

Two cats were detained on the Russian-Latvian border in the Pskov region, which were planned to be sent to Moldova. The animals had no confirmation of laboratory tests to determine the titer of antibodies to the rabies virus. The staff of the Rosselkhoznadzor issued certificates on the return of cats.

According to the Pskov News feed, with reference to the press service of the North-Western Interregional Rosselkhoznadzor Administration, veterinary control was carried out at the Burachki checkpoint in the Pskov region.

In mid-March, the spread of the epidemic of pasteurellosis in Russia was reported. This is a dangerous disease for livestock. Foci of animal diseases have been identified in Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tomsk, Sverdlovsk, Samara and Penza regions, the Trans-Baikal Territory, Chuvashia, Yakutia and the Altai Republic. The disease began to spread from the end of 2025 and, apparently, it has not yet been stopped even by removing and destroying livestock, which farmers and residents of these regions are massively talking about.
