Analysts named the most expensive breeds of dogs and cats

Almost half of Russians began to spend more on pet care than a year ago. Mongrel animals, corgis and huskies turned out to be the most expensive among dogs, while Bengali, Abyssinian and Oriental breeds were among the cats. This is stated in a study by the financial marketplace <url>, which was reviewed on May 25 by Izvestia.

The survey involved 3,000 people aged 18 to 65 who have cats or dogs. Respondents were asked to compare current expenses with last year and indicate which cost items have become more significant.

According to the results of the study, 49% of pet owners reported an increase in pet expenses. Another 32% said that spending had remained virtually unchanged, while 19% noted a reduction.

The average monthly budget for keeping an animal has also increased. According to the survey participants, last year it was about 5.2 thousand rubles, and now it has reached about 6.8 thousand rubles. At the same time, 27% of respondents fit into the amount of up to 4 thousand rubles per month, 46% spend from 4 thousand to 8 thousand rubles, and another 27% spend more than 8 thousand rubles.

"The cost structure has changed significantly over the year. Previously, feed, veterinary services and trips with animals were the main expenses, but now behavioral and developmental services are coming to the fore," the analysts noted.

Mongrel animals became the most expensive to keep among dogs — 6.7 thousand rubles per month. This is followed by corgi — 5.6 thousand rubles and huskies — 5.5 thousand rubles. At the same time, 44% of pet owners from shelters or from the street reported additional costs for behavior correction, adaptation and training. Among owners of pedigreed dogs, 36% noted high spending on grooming and specialized nutrition.

Among the cats, the Bengal breed accounted for the largest expenses — 6.3 thousand rubles per month. Abyssinian cats came in second place with 6.1 thousand rubles, and Oriental cats came in third with 5.7 thousand rubles.

Cynologist Yulia Soltan warned on May 4 about the danger of puddle water for dogs. Puddles, ponds, and fountains often become a source of infections. The expert explained that standing water may contain leptospira, the causative agents of a dangerous disease affecting the liver and kidneys.
