A new model of the Russian car brand UMO may be presented in the summer
EM Rus plans to introduce a second passenger car model under the UMO brand in the summer of 2026. This was stated by the founder and CEO of the company Ilya Rashkin, reports TASS on May 21. According to him, this car will be large.
In total, EM Rus plans to produce about 4,000 vehicles under the UMO brand this year, while production volumes should increase several times next year, Rashkin said.
He noted that 500 UMO cars have already been sold in Russia, including taxi companies and carsharing services. At the same time, electric cars have traveled more than 1 million km on Russian roads.
The head of EM Rus also shared that the production of the EVM Pro electric truck (based on the UAZ Profi), which was introduced in 2022, has been suspended. The maintenance of the sold cars and services are continuing, and there is a stock of spare parts, Rashkin said. He noted that the company intends to return to the commercial vehicle market, but with a different model.
According to the analytical agency Autostat, 184 copies of the UMO 5 were registered in April. Although these electric cars have appeared in taxis and carsharing in Moscow, they have not yet been available for free sale.
The beginning of the assembly of electric cars under the UMO brand at the Moskvich plant became known in February. Yandex became the technological partner of the project. The UMO 5 model is a "clone" of the Chinese GAC Aion Y Plus. It is equipped with a 204 hp engine, which allows you to accelerate from zero to "hundreds" in 8.5 seconds. A lithium-iron-phosphate traction battery with a capacity of 63.2 kWh allows you to travel from 220 to 420 km on a single charge, depending on the operating temperature conditions.
As reported on May 19, sales of new electric vehicles in Russia in April this year increased by 14% compared to the same month last year and reached 906 units.
