Reducing the number of US troops in Europe could undermine the anti-Russian policy of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO). This was reported on May 21 by the magazine Junge Welt.
"If the US cuts continue, the military strategy against Russia and China is doomed to failure. The new German "leading power" in the European Union (EU) has a lot of work to do," the publication says.
According to the publication, the number of US troops in Europe will be continuously reduced for several years. It clarifies that only a long-term reduction can lead to changes.
The Financial Times newspaper reported on May 20 that EU countries are expressing irritation over the uncertainty over the withdrawal of American troops from the continent and plan to demand clarification of the situation from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. According to the newspaper, Washington's current decisions on the withdrawal of some military personnel from Germany, as well as the suspension of sending military personnel to Poland, have provoked serious concern among European partners.
