In Italy, a teenager died of anaphylactic shock after eating ice cream in a cafe

In the Italian city of Casoria, 16-year-old Adriano D'Orsi died of anaphylactic shock a few minutes after trying ice cream in a cafe with friends. This was reported on May 19 by the British newspaper Mirror.

The tragedy occurred on Saturday, May 16, when a teenager, after an evening walk on his way home, drove into a familiar gelateria with two friends. However, after a few spoonfuls of dessert, he developed symptoms of a severe respiratory reaction.

"He desperately asked his friends for help, and they urgently took Adriano to his father, Mauro D'Orsi. The man tried to save his son's life by injecting him with an allergy medication, but it didn't help," the article says.

Emergency services that responded to the call were unable to resuscitate the victim. The boy's mother told reporters that her son was aware of his severe allergy to milk proteins and was attentive to the food, reading its composition on the labels. The cafe staff also knew about his severe lactose intolerance and offered him treats without this ingredient.

It is assumed that traces of milk could get into the ice cream with which the young Italian was poisoned through a spoon or a cooking device. The police seized several buckets of dessert from the gelateria in order to conduct an examination and determine the exact cause of death.

In January, at least four cases of deterioration in infants' health were recorded in the Netherlands after eating baby food produced by Nestle. The children's parents sought medical help complaining of symptoms, including vomiting and diarrhea, that the infants experienced after consuming formula milk.
