Sales of new Lexus cars have doubled in Russia
Despite the fact that the Lexus brand is not officially represented on the Russian market, sales of new brand cars in Russia doubled in the first four months of this year. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on May 20.
So, in January-April, 1,495 new Lexus passenger cars were registered in Russia, which is 90% more than in the same period last year, when 785 cars of this Japanese brand were registered in the country.
More than half of the sales (59.6%) accounted for the Lexus RX crossover — 891 units sold. The top three popular models also include the Lexus LX full-size crossover (367 units) and the Lexus ES business class sedan (108 units).
As the analyst noted, unlike many other global brands, whose car sales in Russia increased sharply in 2026, 84% of Lexus cars registered in the country are Japanese-made. They are mainly imported to Russia through Kyrgyzstan and Belarus, while Chinese-built Lexus accounts for only 12.5% of sales.
On the same day, Tselikov reported that in Russia in the first four months of this year, sales of new Nissan cars increased 5.4 times, with more than 95% of cars coming from the Chinese market. Sales of new Honda passenger cars in Russia increased 4.5 times in the first four months, 53% of them are of Chinese origin. In addition, sales of new Skoda cars were three times higher than a year ago, and more than 95% of cars came to Russia from China.
