Experts have found out the preferences of Russians when choosing wedding gifts

Russians increasingly began to prefer practical wedding gifts — money and gift cards. This is evidenced by the results of a study by the beauty retailer Golden Apple.

According to the survey, the criterion of practicality turned out to be important for 67% of respondents. "The status and external "solidity" of the gift are gradually fading into the background: this criterion turned out to be important only for 13% of respondents," the authors of the study said.

Money remains the most desirable wedding gift for newlyweds — 90% of respondents chose this option. At the same time, the majority of respondents consider 10-20 thousand rubles to be the most comfortable gift amount. Another 58% would prefer to receive a gift according to a pre-arranged wishlist. A quarter of the respondents named gift cards as one of the most pleasant gift options, as they allow you to choose the right goods yourself.

The interest in practical wedding gifts is also confirmed by the responses of the guests of the event. So, 89% of the study participants said they would like to give money to the newlyweds, and 64% would choose a gift according to the couple's wishlist. Another 22% prefer gift cards as their main wedding gift. "For many, this is an opportunity to maintain a balance between versatility and personalization: on the one hand, the gift remains useful, and on the other, it gives the newlyweds freedom of choice," the Golden Apple commented.

The changes also affected wedding traditions related to flowers. The majority of the study participants — 68% — are positive about the idea of receiving a gift card instead of a bouquet of flowers. Another 28% consider a compromise option to be optimal, when some of the guests give flowers and some give gift cards. And only 4% of the respondents believe that flowers should remain an obligatory part of the celebration.
