The extension of the agreement between Russia and China shows the willingness of Moscow and Beijing to strengthen their partnership in the face of long-term international tensions and external pressure. This was stated to Izvestia on 20 by Nikita Setov, Deputy General Director of the Polylog Group for cooperation with government authorities.

"The extension of the agreement shows that Moscow and Beijing perceive the current international situation as a long period requiring stable legal and political guarantees," he said.

According to the expert, the role of the document is reinforced by external pressure, the declaration on a multipolar world and the expansion of practical cooperation between the countries.

In addition, Setov noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping's formulation of the "law of the jungle" reflects a situation in which major players are trying to impose rules without taking into account the interests of other centers of influence. The response to this is the Russian-Chinese partnership, which is manifested in the coordination of positions in international organizations, the development of energy projects and the strengthening of Eurasian transport links.

Further development of the partnership, according to Setov, will require the diversification of external relations and the preservation of space for independent decisions. New formats of interaction may be related to energy, industrial cooperation, infrastructure and artificial intelligence, the expert concluded.
