Experts talked about the reasons for the interest in rejuvenation
The influence of social media and the distortion of reality by smartphone cameras have led to an increase in the popularity of cosmetology among young people since the age of 25. All the details are in the Izvestia article.
Trends in aesthetic medicine
Cosmetologist, dermatovenerologist, Head of the Cosmetology and Dermatovenerology Department of JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg Clinic), PhD Ekaterina Anpilogova noted that patients' requests have become tougher and more specific. Previously, women asked to make their face "fresher", now they come with specific references from Instagram (owned by Meta Corporation, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) or TikTok, wanting to correct facial features following the example of bloggers.
One of the main problems was the "camera effect", when the front lens of the smartphone distorts the proportions of the face. Because of this, people demand to eliminate the asymmetry, which they do not have in reality.
"Among the most sought-after procedures are those that give an instant effect: plasmolifting, biorevitalization, microneedle RF lifting and exosomes. There is also a continuing trend for fillers and lip correction, but now patients are more likely to request a "natural plumpness" effect. At the same time, the age of clients has decreased significantly: specialists are increasingly being approached from the age of 25," the expert explained.
Psychological reasons for rejuvenation
Clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist Ilyana Kopylova links changes in the field of self-care with the acceleration of information flows and the transformation of age perception. According to her, psychological childhood now lasts up to 25 years, and 30-year-olds often feel and look like 18-year-olds. The availability of information on fitness practices allows the over-50 generation to feel younger than their predecessors.
"A huge flow of information allows us to gain knowledge about prolonging youth and self-care. The availability of cosmetic procedures also plays a role. However, a steady trend has formed in society: you need to age beautifully or correctly," Kopylova explained.
According to her, there is a concept of "proper aging" in psychology, which implies working on mental health. Experts recommend creating new neural connections to preserve cognitive functions.: learn foreign languages, read a lot and master modern skills. This approach helps to overcome the fear of aging, which is often a form of fear of death.
