Russia and China have generally reached an understanding on the main parameters of the Power of Siberia–2 gas pipeline project. This was announced on May 20 by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.

"President [of Russia Vladimir Putin] said at the talks today that, in general, there are basic parameters for understanding the Power of Siberia–2," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to Peskov, the parties agreed on key issues, including the route of the future gas pipeline and approaches to its construction. He added that some details have yet to be agreed, but a common understanding on the project has already been reached.

On the same day, Putin noted that Russia is ready to continue to ensure uninterrupted energy supplies to China. He also noted that the countries are jointly engaged in the development of transport and logistics routes.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak added that Russia is ready to ensure long-term oil supplies to China and increase their volumes with appropriate demand. He stressed that by the end of 2025, the volume of Russian oil supplies amounted to almost 100 million tons.
