Czech Republic intends to tighten conditions for issuing humanitarian aid to Ukrainians

The Czech Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) will tighten the conditions for issuing humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees. This was reported by the CTK news agency on May 20.

"Persons who have received so—called temporary protection, that is, mainly refugees from Ukraine applying for humanitarian benefits, will have to have a job, run a business, or be registered with an employment agency," the article says.

The publication notes that refugees are required to stay in the country for at least 16 days a month, for which benefits are due.

The Special Representative for Ukrainians in the European Union (EU), Ilva Johansson, said a day earlier that Ukrainian citizens of military age should be deprived of the right to asylum in Europe. Her statement was the answer to a question about the legal status of Ukrainians staying in the EU after March 2027. However, she noted that discussions on this issue are "still ongoing" in Brussels.
