Pashinyan said there were no intentions to take drastic steps in relations with the Russian Federation

Taking into account its own interests, Yerevan does not intend to take drastic steps towards Moscow. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this on May 20.

Pashinyan noted that Armenia cannot put its interests below Russia's, while the republic will not enter into a confrontation with Russia either. The Prime Minister also stressed that he is in close contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Since 2018, we have conducted about 200 telephone conversations. I doubt at all that the president of the Russian Federation has had more contacts with other foreign leaders since 2018," Minval Politika quoted him as saying on the Telegram channel.

Yesterday, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that Armenia has no plans to create tension in relations with Russia. He acknowledged that there are problems between Russia and Armenia, but such issues arise during the development of relations between the two countries and should be resolved through diplomacy.

On April 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the aggravation of internal political processes on the eve of the elections in Armenia should not harm relations between Moscow and Yerevan. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in turn, stressed that the construction and strengthening of relations between the two countries will continue regardless of the outcome of the vote in the republic.
