Details of the incident

The incident occurred on May 20 in the village of Kacha on the territory of secondary school No. 13. A group of students went out onto the second-floor balcony to take a general photo, after which the structure could not withstand the weight and collapsed.

Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev said that nine children, six boys and three girls, were injured in the incident. Three of them are in serious condition, the rest are in moderate condition. The city's emergency and operational services are on site.

The Investigative Committee (IC) of Crimea and Sevastopol promptly responded to the incident, opening a criminal case on the fact of injury to children. Investigators and criminologists went to the school to inspect the scene and collect the necessary evidence.

The ministry confirmed information about the number of victims and the location of the incident. Experts are establishing all the circumstances of the incident in order to give a legal assessment of the actions of those responsible.

"This morning, a balcony on the 2nd floor collapsed on the territory of an educational institution in the village of Kacha. As a result of the incident, 10 students received injuries of varying severity," the Investigative Committee said.

Building condition

The building of the educational institution recently underwent a large-scale reconstruction. The repair work was carried out in the period 2024-2025 and was officially completed just five days before the incident — on May 15. The total cost of restoring School No. 13 was 156.5 million rubles.

According to the documentation, 29 thousand rubles were allocated directly for repair work on the balcony. The work was carried out by the contractor SZ Temprano LLC. The company provided a five-year warranty for the completed reconstruction. The authorities promised to establish the exact causes of the collapse and take action against those responsible.
