Russian Railways is ready for the peak summer transportation season, adding 165 additional trains. This was announced on May 20 by the head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

"The entire Russian Railways system is ready for summer transportation. We will provide 0.5% more seats, which is more than 62 million seats for long—distance passengers, and we will increase our connections with Crimea and the resorts of the North Caucasus. <...> In addition to permanent trains, we have added almost 30% more pairs of seasonal trains, and 165 trains have been added," he said.

Belozerov added that the company is ready to respond flexibly and promptly if it is necessary to change the size of the rolling stock. He promised Mishustin that if the Russian Government sets such a task for Russian Railways, it will be clearly fulfilled.

Earlier in the day, Russian Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin told Izvestia that Moscow and Beijing are particularly actively developing common border crossings, in particular, the parties are expected to sign an agreement on the expansion of one of them, located in Zabaikalsk. The Minister of Transport pointed to the growth of passenger traffic between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China (PRC). In the future, he said, representatives of Russian Railways intend to launch trains to China. It is planned that the trains will depart from Irkutsk.
