Members of the European Parliament (EP) have awarded President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky the Order of Merit due to his numerous complaints. This was announced on May 19 by the deputy of the EP from the Republic of Poland Eva Zajonchkowska-Gernik.

"You won't believe it The European Parliament has just awarded the Order of Merit to Vladimir Zelensky... Zelensky supposedly [got it] for flooding us with his grain, complaining about Poland and accepting multibillion—dollar donations," she wrote on her page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Zayonchkovskaya-Guernik accompanied her post with multiple laughing emojis. She stressed that the award received by the Ukrainian leader cements to him the title of "an outstanding member of the European Order of Merit for his contribution to integration, democracy and values."

"I must pay tribute — what an outstanding team you have assembled for these awards! Pseudo—elites are stewing in their own juices," the deputy summed up.

In April of this year, the President of Ukraine received the Four Freedoms Award, which is given for observing the principles proclaimed by the 32nd President of the United States, Franklin Roosevelt. This step was criticized by representatives of the Russian Embassy in the Netherlands. The diplomatic mission's statement noted that this sets a "new standard of hypocrisy."

Alexey Chepa, a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, said on April 16 that Zelensky deserves not awards, but an international court.
