Russia and the People's Republic of China (PRC) have the potential to multiply their interstate business partnerships in various fields, ranging from agriculture to artificial intelligence (AI). Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), told Izvestia on May 20.

"You know, of course, there are still industries where we need to expand. And in many ways, this includes cooperation not only with Chinese large sovereign wealth funds, but also with China's strategic companies...> There are a lot of areas and, of course, there are already initial investments and initial projects in all areas, but this can be multiplied in the next five years," he told Izvestia correspondent Viktor Sineoka.

Dmitriev said that representatives of the Chinese side are particularly interested in cooperation in the field of the agro-industrial complex (AIC). According to him, the interaction of the parties in energy and technology is also important.

The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund stressed that Russia can become a supplier of "the cheapest energy", which can later be used for data centers and AI development. He also agreed that Moscow and Beijing are forming a bundle of "endless energy" and advanced technologies. This potentially creates the strongest "global force".

"We are currently discussing a lot of Russian-Chinese technology companies that can play a more significant role in the global economy through joint work," he added.

The Special Representative of the President stressed that Russia has a large number of talented people. As he noted, it has a wide intellectual and engineering potential. In conclusion, Dmitriev stressed that the Russian side considers it important to bring joint projects with China to global markets.

Dmitriev said on the same day that RDIF had signed several agreements with Chinese companies and organizations at once. According to the agreements, the parties will work on the development of common infrastructure, investment and high-tech projects. So, the documents were signed in particular with such corporations as China Architecture Design & Research Group (CADG), China Construction Eighth Engineering Division and Jinman Group.

At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin is meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the People's Assembly House in Beijing. The day before leaving for Beijing for an official two-day visit, the Russian leader said that Moscow and Beijing are increasing cooperation in a wide range of areas, including political cooperation, economic development, strengthening defense capabilities, cultural and educational exchanges. During talks with Chinese representatives on May 20, Putin also pointed to a 30-fold increase in trade turnover with China in 25 years.
