Putin's statements

The Russian President called the treaty on good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation, signed 25 years ago, a fundamental basis for the development of cooperation in all areas. According to him, relations between the two countries have reached an unprecedented high level, representing an example of a truly comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation.

Putin said that in a quarter of a century, the trade turnover between Russia and China has grown more than 30 times and has been steadily exceeding the $200 billion mark for several years in a row. The locomotive of cooperation remains the energy sector, where Russia is a reliable supplier and China is a responsible consumer.

"In the current tense situation in the international arena, our close cooperation is particularly in demand," the president stressed.

According to him, Russia and China defend cultural and civilizational diversity, respect for the sovereign development of states and strive for a more just world order.

Putin also said that following the Years of Culture, years of cooperation in the field of education are opening up — this is the 10th cross-interstate thematic project. He confirmed his readiness to participate in the APEC summit in Shenzhen in November and invited Xi Jinping to visit Russia next year.

Xi Jinping's statements

The Chinese leader noted that Russia and China jointly determine the vector of development of bilateral relations based on respect and mutual benefit. In addition, he added that the relationship between the Russian and Chinese sides, based on mutual respect, brings predictability and stability to a chaotic world.

"The current international situation is undergoing serious changes, and the world is facing the danger of returning to the law of the jungle," Xi Jinping said, noting that under the circumstances, the progressive nature, scientific validity and practical significance of the Sino—Russian Treaty on Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation are becoming more and more obvious.

The Chinese leader stressed that Beijing is ready to work with Moscow to follow the spirit of the document, consistently developing strategic cooperation based on mutual support.

He also stated that the situation in the Middle East is at a critical stage between war and peace. According to the Chinese president, the cessation of hostilities must be immediate, and the resumption of the conflict is unacceptable.

According to him, an early end to the conflict in the Middle East will help reduce the risks to stable energy supplies, the normal operation of production and logistics chains, as well as to international trade.
