China Central Television (CCTV) earlier announced the completion of preparations for Putin's meeting at the People's Assembly House. It was specified that the Chinese president would hold an official welcoming ceremony for the Russian leader.

On May 19, Putin arrived in China on a two-day official visit at the invitation of the country's president. This trip is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation, which is fundamental for bilateral relations. In a video message on the eve of the visit, the head of state noted that relations between Russia and China have reached an unprecedented level.
