Nebenzia announced the US desire to resolve the conflict in Ukraine
The administration of US President Donald Trump is sincerely striving to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on May 19 by Russia's Permanent Representative to the world Organization Vasily Nebenzya.
"The US presidential administration is trying to help. Donald Trump, apparently, sincerely seeks a settlement," he said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
At the same time, the Russian permanent representative noted that Washington has other priorities. Nebenzia also expressed gratitude for the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin's initiative on a truce on May 8th and 9th. According to him, many Russian citizens managed to celebrate the holiday in peace.
He added that in Ukraine on this day there were people who carried flowers to the monuments to the soldiers-liberators. According to Nebenzi, this was not prevented by the actions of the Kiev regime around the Victory Day Parade, glorification of Nazis and collaborators, as well as the destruction of monuments.
On May 8, Trump expressed hope that a truce between Russia and Ukraine could begin to end the conflict. The American leader added that on his initiative, a three-day ceasefire (May 9, 10 and 11) would be observed between Moscow and Kiev.
As Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov noted on May 9, Russia hopes that the US president will be able to discipline the Ukrainian side on the issue of observing the truce until May 11. The Russian leader's aide added that in one of his recent statements, Trump expressed hope for an extension of the truce, but this is "an unfounded hope."
