The Latvian Foreign Ministry protested to the head of the Russian diplomatic mission over the statement of the SVR

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia summoned Dmitry Kasatkin, Charge d'affaires of the Russian Embassy, and handed him an official note of protest in connection with the statements of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) about the plans of the Ukrainian side to launch drones from the Baltic States. This was reported on May 19 on the website of the press service of the Latvian Foreign Ministry.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the charge d'affaires of the Russian Embassy and expressed categorical protest against the public statement published on May 19, 2026 by the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation. <...> The head of the Russian Embassy was also handed an official note of protest," the publication says.
