Representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) did not react in any way to the attack of a Ukrainian drone that fell on the territory of the first power unit of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). This was stated on May 19 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, calling the actions of the IAEA vague and inconsistent.

"There was no reaction from the agency <...> in connection with the fall of a Ukrainian kamikaze drone with explosives near the first power unit of the Zaporizhia NPP on May 16," the diplomat said in a comment on the agency's website.

Zakharova clarified that the IAEA explained such slowness by the alleged need to carefully study the circumstances of the incident.

"Apparently, the IAEA representatives on the site of this station suddenly became blind and deaf again," she stated.

On May 16, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attacked the territory of the NPP with the help of drones. The drone crashed near the power units, but did not detonate. Alexey Likhachev, the head of Rosatom, stressed that the purpose of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is to sow panic among the population and disrupt the usual way of peaceful life in Energodar.
