- The defense of correspondent Poltoranin will file a claim for compensation for moral damage.
The defense of Izvestia correspondent Alexei Poltoranin intends to file a civil lawsuit for moral damage caused to the journalist. His lawyer Vyacheslav Boikov announced this on May 19 at the end of the court session.
He noted that the hearing of the case ended positively for the injured party. The court extended the arrest until July 25 to Pavel Poghosyan, the leader of Podolsk businessmen who attacked Poltoranin.
"Currently, a number of forensic examinations have been appointed, which, unfortunately, could not be carried out over the period of two months. Accordingly, we are waiting for a decision on these examinations. We also plan to file a claim for moral damage and material liability against the accused in the near future," Boikov said.
Mikhail Mushailov, the lawyer of the injured journalist, also noted on May 13 that the defendants in the case of the attack could be prosecuted under a number of other articles — on unlawful imprisonment and unlawful access to computer information. He also explained that all the defendants in the case recognize the use of force against Poltoranin.
Employees of the company for the illegal sale of "beautiful" license plates for cars on March 25 attacked Poltoranin, who was investigating the activities of the company "Beautiful Series". They brutally beat the journalist, tried to kidnap him and threatened to cut off his fingers.
Three people are involved in the criminal case. The first defendant, Poghosyan, was arrested for two months on March 27. At the same time, Alexander Fomin was arrested. The "businessman" Artur Davydov was also sent to jail for two months. There was no remorse on their part.
