Alice Weidel, co-chair of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, is one of the five most popular politicians in Germany. This became known on May 19 from an INSA Institute opinion poll for the Bild newspaper.

"The leader of the AfD has risen from eighth place to fourth," the article says.

It is noted that in the survey, politicians were rated on a scale from zero to 10. 20 politicians were ranked in the top by the number of points.

In the end, Weidel scored four points, giving way to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and two prime ministers of the federal states. However, she overtook Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Zeder, who scored an average of 3.9 points, as did German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt.

Bild announced on May 16 that the opposition right-wing Alternative for Germany party has set a new historical record of popularity among German voters — 29%. At the same time, the CDU/CSU bloc continues to lose its position, its support has decreased to 22%.

Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said that AfG had become a "hope" for the Germans.
