In Southern California, thousands of residents have been ordered to evacuate due to the Sandy wildfire threatening residential areas. This was reported on May 19 by NBC News.

"Thousands of people were ordered to evacuate as a wind-fanned wildfire threatened homes in the suburbs of Southern California," the publication says.

The fire started on the morning of May 18 in the hills near the city of Simi Valley, located about 48 km northwest of Los Angeles. According to Ventura County authorities, warnings and evacuation orders affected about 10,000 homes in Simi Valley, Bell Canyon and Santa Susana. Another 3.5 thousand houses may be evacuated.

Los Angeles authorities have also issued warnings for certain areas of the city, including West Hills and Chatsworth. At the same time, Mayor Karen Bass said that the spread of the fire to Los Angeles is not yet expected.

More than 120 homes were destroyed due to a wildfire in Georgia on April 25. It was clarified that the most destructive fire was recorded in Brantley County. It was there on April 20 that a foil balloon that flew away from a children's party hit a power line, causing sparking and a fire.
