Manturov stated the requirement not to compete with AvtoVAZ for Chinese companies

Russia sets conditions for Chinese automakers to enter the domestic market. One of the requirements is the absence of direct competition with AvtoVAZ. This was stated by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.

"Our condition was that [Chinese cars] should not create direct competition with AvtoVAZ here," Vesti news agency quoted Manturov as saying on May 19.

According to the vice premier, Chinese companies can offer models in such classes where they will not directly overlap with AvtoVAZ products, but will be in demand. For example, various hybrids or electric vehicles.

In addition, Manturov noted that Russia also expects from Chinese car companies "the highest level of localization and unification with other manufacturers."
