In Russia, more than 84 thousand people turned to doctors after being bitten by ticks

More than 84,000 Russians have sought medical help after being bitten by ticks. This was reported on May 19 in the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.

The risks of infection with tick-borne viral encephalitis (CVE) persist in some areas of 49 regions of Russia. These include Dmitrovsky and Taldomsky districts of the Moscow region, as well as a number of territories of St. Petersburg, the Vedomosti newspaper clarifies.

At the same time, over the past week, the number of people vaccinated against CVE has increased by about 200 thousand people. Most of the complaints due to tick bites were recorded in medical institutions in the Sverdlovsk, Kemerovo, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Irkutsk, Vologda, Kirov, Tomsk, Kostroma and Novosibirsk regions, as well as the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

On May 12, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor reported that more than 2.2 million Russian residents were vaccinated against tick-borne viral encephalitis in 2026. Prior to this, it was noted that ticks that live on the territory of Russia are capable, in addition to encephalitis, of carrying viruses such as Badges nayrovarus, Mukava and Nuomin, also known as Lesnoe.
