The import of powerful used cars from China to Russia has almost disappeared
The share of imports of used cars from China with a capacity of over 160 hp decreased from 60% to 2%. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on May 19.
Of the 28.9 thousand used cars (older than 3 years) that were imported to Russia from China in the first four months of this year, only 562 (2%) have engines with a capacity of over 160 hp, he estimated.
Until December 1 last year, such cars accounted for more than 60% of used car imports from China, said Tselikov. Now 60% is accounted for by cars with a capacity of 140-160 hp. Every sixth car (17.5%) has a capacity of 120-140 hp, and the remaining cars (20.5%) come with engines that develop up to 120 hp.
The most popular model among used cars from China among Russians is the Toyota Corolla assembled by Chinese car factories. In January-April, Russians imported 2,136 copies of this Japanese model.
On May 12, Tselikov reported that in the first four months of this year, slightly more than 5.4 thousand passenger cars with a mileage of over 160 hp were imported to Russia. This is eight times less than in January – April last year, when the volume of imports of such machines amounted to 44.1 thousand units.
