In Yakutia, the spring flood period has not yet been completed. Residents of the republic were forbidden to go out on small vessels on the water until navigation opens.

According to IA YakutiaMedia, with reference to the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, every year there is a surge in incidents involving a risk to the lives of hunters. Their vessels may become trapped in the ice, get damaged and sink.

Traveling along river channels during this period is also dangerous. Experts explain: under the pressure of ice, metal objects and large stones turn out to be in them. If the boat collides with them, it can also get a hole and capsize.

In case of violation of the rules of operation of vessels, when small vessels enter water bodies before the start of navigation, boatmasters will face administrative responsibility, the GIMS Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic warned.

Earlier, on May 11, the authorities announced an urgent evacuation of two villages in Yakutia due to rising water in the Lena River. We are talking about the villages of Vitim and Peledui. The district administration reported that an ice jam broke through on the Lena River and the water level began to decrease, but the threat to the population still remains.
