There have been 357 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 357 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 22 people were killed and 415 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on May 19 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
13 accidents involving buses were recorded, as a result of which 12 road users, including one child, required medical assistance. Six bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
As a result of 99 accidents involving pedestrians, 33 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 66 outside their area of operation, two people were killed, and 98 more pedestrians were injured in various degrees of severity. 36 child pedestrians were among the injured, 30 of them were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated places.
In addition, 74 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which two children were killed and 80 young road users were injured, including 20 child passengers and six motor transport drivers.
So, in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, in the morning in Cherkessk, a 60-year-old car driver ran over an eight-year-old girl who was unaccompanied by adults heading to her place of study and crossing the roadway at an unregulated pedestrian crossing. As a result of the accident, the minor died.
Another fatal accident was registered in the evening in Krasnodar. There, a 28-year-old truck driver ran over a seven-year-old cyclist at an unregulated intersection while making a turn, who was crossing the roadway from right to left without an adult in the direction of the vehicle. As a result of the car accident, the child died.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urged drivers to be extremely careful when passing intersections and pedestrian crossings, especially unregulated ones. When making a turn, it is necessary to reduce speed in advance and control the situation not only on the roadway, but also near it, since children can suddenly ride a bicycle onto the road or start crossing the roadway. Parents, in turn, should remind their children daily of the rules of safe behavior on the road, as well as not to allow young children to be near the roadway unaccompanied by adults, the department stressed.
Earlier, on May 15, it was reported that the State Duma rejected a bill on amendments to the Administrative Code, which proposed to consolidate administrative responsibility for violations of the average speed of movement, if it is recorded by traffic cameras.
