The third Russia–Africa Summit will be held in Moscow in autumn 2026.

A meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the third Russia–Africa Summit, which will be held on October 28-29 this year, was held in Moscow.

During the meeting, issues related to the formation of the agenda of the upcoming event, as well as the preparation of the Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum were discussed.

Yuri Ushakov, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, noted that despite the difficult international situation, Russian-African cooperation remains a progressive dynamic. The summits held in 2019 and 2023 confirmed the high level of mutual interest and became an important stage in strengthening Russia's relations with the countries of the continent.

"The 2019 and 2023 summits, in fact, gave a new impetus to Russian-African cooperation. We are currently facing serious, extensive work to prepare for the third summit. It is important to attach special importance to the economic component of our relations," Ushakov stressed.

The institutional framework for cooperation continues to be developed as part of the preparation. Work is underway to form new cooperation mechanisms, expand the network of Russia's diplomatic presence on the continent, and prepare agreements on the establishment of intergovernmental commissions. Special attention will be paid to trade, investment, logistics, energy, food security, high technologies and humanitarian cooperation.

A special emphasis during the meeting was placed on the need to form a practice-oriented economic agenda of the summit. According to the participants of the organizing committee, African countries are interested in localizing production, developing infrastructure, digital services, training personnel, as well as expanding cooperation in the fields of industry, pharmaceuticals and artificial intelligence.

The Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum is also being considered as part of the events. It is expected that the forum will become a platform for developing specific initiatives to promote cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, culture, education and technology.

"Our task is to create a sustainable legacy of the third meeting of the leaders of Russia and the states of the African continent in the form of signed package solutions in the fields of economy, trade, investment, culture and education," said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee.

The meeting participants stressed that the Third Russia–Africa Summit is intended to give an important impetus to further strengthening Russia's strategic partnership with the countries of the continent, expanding economic and humanitarian ties, as well as promoting joint initiatives in the emerging multipolar world.

"The intensity of contacts at the highest and highest levels is growing between Russia and African countries. Our partners have repeatedly indicated to us a special interest in increasing trade and investment cooperation, so it is planned to build the agenda of the third summit around economic issues," said Georgy Borisenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

It is assumed that the main guidelines and tasks of the next stage of Russian-African relations will be fixed in the new action plan of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum for 2027-2029.
