Chinese state security officials did not allow US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to attend the events due to the lack of an accreditation badge. This was reported on May 18 by The Daily Beast online portal.

"Apparently, [American leader] Donald Trump's finance minister came into conflict with state security officials during the president's difficult trip to China last week," the publication says.

The attached video shows how Chinese state security officers at the entrance to the House of People's Assemblies blocked the expensive Agent, pointing their fingers at the lapels of his jacket. Shortly after the incident, the assistants handed the puzzled minister the badge he needed for passage.

The head of the Federation Council's information policy commission, Alexei Pushkov, said on May 18 that the Chinese side had "slightly humiliated" Bessent by not allowing him to attend the event without an accreditation badge.
