The Pentagon accused Zelensky of unwillingness to conclude a deal on Ukraine

An agreement on Ukraine has not yet been reached due to the unwillingness of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to make concessions. This was announced on May 19 by the Pentagon Inspector General.

"Zelensky continued to consistently emphasize that Ukraine would not cede territory to Russia," he is quoted as saying on the agency's website.

It is noted that negotiations between Moscow and Kiev have reached an impasse due to territorial disputes and the issue of security guarantees. In addition, the Pentagon pointed to the gradual degradation of the training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the reduction of ammunition with drones.

Dmitry Novikov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma's International Affairs Committee, said on May 18 that the current situation in the special military operation zone was not conducive to mutual understanding between Russia and Ukraine on the diplomatic track. He noted that all the messages that are now emerging, even in the West, related to the intention of concluding peace, are rejected by Zelensky's team.
