Global energy security is impossible without the availability and movement of Russian energy resources. This was announced on May 18 by Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries.

He noted that the decision taken by the United States for the third time to lift sanctions restrictions on offshore Russian oil supplies would have a positive impact on the global safety of energy markets.

"Global energy security is impossible without Russian energy resources," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

On May 18, the head of the US Treasury, Scott Bessent, announced that the agency had extended the license for 30 days, which permits the offshore supply of Russian oil. He explained that the most vulnerable countries should be given temporary access to Russian oil.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on April 20 that Russia remains an important player in the global energy market, despite the extension by the United States of sanctions on the sale of oil from the Russian Federation.
