The volume of water discharge at the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station has been increased to 5,000 cubic meters per second since May 18. This led to a rise in the Yenisei River level and created a risk of flooding along the river.

As of May 18, nine underground buildings, three garden houses and 156 household plots remain in the flood zone. The flood also affected 18 sections of roads in nine municipalities.

The authorities are monitoring the situation, the regional agency for Civil Defense, Emergency Situations and Fire Safety reported. Residents at risk are advised to contact local authorities.

On Thursday, May 21, a meeting of the Yenisei Basin Water Management will be held, writes KrasnoyarskMedia news agency. A decision will be made at the meeting on the further operation of the HPP.
