Pediatrician, PhD, neonatologist, vaccinologist Rabiyat Zainiddinova on Monday, May 18, told how to protect children from mosquitoes.

In an interview with Radio 1, the specialist explained that in children, the immune system reacts to insect bites more actively than in adults: pronounced redness, large papules and sometimes even systemic reactions appear. According to her, this is due to the fact that the body of babies is working at its limit, and the protective functions of the skin have not yet been formed. The expert noted that because of this, the protection of children should be a priority.

She recommended using physical measures — mosquito nets on the stroller and windows. At the same time, the doctor warned that fumigators should not be turned on next to the baby's crib. The specialist also added that anti-mosquito bracelets are ineffective, and any repellents should not be applied to the skin of children under three months of age.

Entomologist Alexander Kashirsky informed Moscow 24 on May 12 that an increase in the mosquito population is expected in Moscow. The specialist stressed that the situation will remain typical for this season and will not reach catastrophic proportions.
